Skenes took the league by storm after his debut in 2024 with the Pirates.
He won the National League Rookie of the Year Award and was named the starting pitcher for the National League in the All-Star Game.
Skenes is still making headlines this offseason as a photo of him and his girlfriend Olivia Dunne is going viral.

The picture of Skenes and his LSU gymnastics/social media influencer girlfriend has been making waves on social media.
Skenes is preparing for his sophomore season in the MLB after completely dominating the league in 2024.
In 2024, Skenes started 23 games where he held a record of 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 133.0 innings pitched.
The Pirates have struggled immensely as of late, but with Skenes headlining their starting rotation, they could be a team to watch in the coming seasons.
It will be hard for Skenes to beat the season he had in 2024, so it will be interesting to see if he makes any adjustments as he heads into the 2025 season.
The Pirates will look for their first NL Central title in franchise history as their last division title came back in 1992 when they resided in the NL East.

The Pittsburgh Pirates haven’t made the playoffs since 2015 and finished with their sixth straight losing season in 2024 with a record of 76-86.
Although recent history hasn’t been kind to the organization, they finally have hope for the future as rookie starting pitcher Paul Skenes made his debut in 2024.
Skenes took the league by storm and ended up winning NL Rookie of the Year and finishing in the top three in the NL Cy Young Award voting.
Pirates second basemen Nick Gonzales recently revealed his honest thoughts on Skenes following his rookie season.
“He’s a workhorse, he does what he needs to do every single day,” Gonzales said, via MLB Network Radio on SirisuXM."Sometimes [opponents] just can't hit the ball."

The Pirates switched to the NL Central from the NL East in 1994, and they have never won a division title since the realignment.
Skenes gives the Pirates their best shot in a long time of doing so and also breaking the streak of nine straight seasons missing the postseason.
In his rookie campaign, Skenes started 23 games and posted a record of 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 133.0 innings pitched.
He was so impressive from the get-go that he was chosen to start the All-Star Game for the National League.
Skenes is only 22 years old, and Gonzales mentions how he has a veteran mentality with his preparation and demeanor on the mound.
The Pirates will look to make some moves this offseason to build around Skenes in hopes of contending for their sixth World Series title in franchise history.

The Pirates have not had great teams as of late, but the emergence of Skenes gives them a true number-one pitcher to start and build around for the future.
With the offseason filled with big-name free agents, the Pirates will have the opportunity to add some offensive weapons to their roster before the 2025 season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have a respectable five World Series titles in their franchise history, but recent years have not been too kind to them.
After finishing the 2024 season with a record of 76 wins and 86 losses, the Pirates missed the postseason for the ninth straight season and had their sixth straight losing season.
Although the 2024 season was not great in general, the Pirates did have a bright spot in rookie starting pitcher Paul Skenes who won the NL ROTY Award and is a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award.
MLB Analyst Jason Mackey revealed what he thinks the Pirates need to do this offseason.

Mackey mentions that keeping Bryan Reynolds at first base doesn’t seem like the answer and that he would keep him in left field and Oneil Cruz in center field and sign a regular first baseman.
He also mentions some names that intrigue him at the position including Paul Goldschmidt, Ryan Mountcastle, and Yandy Diaz.
The Pirates have not had a postseason run past the National League Division Series since 1992, and haven’t appeared in a World Series since 1979, which was their last World Series title.
With the free agent class being full of big names this offseason, the Pirates should have the opportunity to sign some helpful players before the 2025 season.
It appears that the Pirates have found their ace of the future with Skenes, and they just need to add some offensive support to attempt and get the team back to a competitive level.
