Aaron Glenn is the New York Jets’ man now… but it could’ve been worth celebrating him winning an award for last year.
Glenn, for his efforts as the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator, was nominated for the 2024 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year Award. Unfortunately, Glenn did not win it.
Even so, he did fare well in voting.

When the New York Jets introduced head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey it was revealed the two did previously have a relationship.
Both of them discussed how Mougey was part of a group with the Denver Broncos who interviewed Glenn for a job there a few years back.
On the surface, that doesn’t sound like the deepest relationship.
But it got there.
Speaking to the Jets’ website, Glenn detailed how well he knew Mougey prior to both being hired in New York. It went well beyond that initial chat.
According to Glenn, after that interview, the two stayed in touch for years. Because of that, the two were perfectly fine to know they’ll be working together with the Jets.
“I knew there was a shared vision between me and Moug,” Glenn said.

All eyes are on Aaron Rodgers and what his future holds with the New York Jets.
But how about Davante Adams?
The Jets acquired Adams in a mid-season trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. It was clear the move was made to reunite Rodgers and Adams once again.
It did not go according to plan. New York finished the 2024 season with a 5-12 record.
Regardless of other circumstances, the Adams saga has to eventually find a conclusion and off that bat it’s not off to a good start.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, there has not been any contact between the Jets and Adams to this point of the offseason.

The New York Jets have a long to-do list early on in the 2025 NFL offseason.
But the team has started to cross things off that.
Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey, respectively, have been named head coach and general manager of the Jets.
With those pieces in place, quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be the main man in the crosshairs. Should the 41-year-old stay or go?
On both sides of the ledger, there is plenty to consider.
In terms of parting ways with him, here are three reasons why the Jets could let go of the QB in 2025:

Admittedly this is a bit of a two-sided coin flip.
Currently Rodgers has no more guaranteed money owed to him on his contract. However, the salary cap will take a huge hit. His deal has him giving the Jets a $49 million dead cap hit if he’s cut.
Even if the Jets split those costs and they make him a post-June 1 designation, that will still be tough to swallow. Doing that would cost the team $21 million in dead money in 2025 and $28 million in 2026 according to Over The Cap.
Now for the other half of this, if Rodgers does stick around, he did say he is open to reworking his contract in New York once again. That still doesn’t guarantee it would be a massive amount of savings for the Jets, though.

Even so, the QB will be 42 next season and while his efforts improved, he still played through injury. While Rodgers did start all 17 games for the green and white last season, doing so dinged up hampered him and that trend could very well continue.
(And we didn’t even mention his serious Achilles injury, either.)

And the natural thought for most that would prefer Rodgers is not in New York next season: Maybe it’s just for the best?
And potentially for both sides, too.
A new regime is now running the Jets and keeping Rodgers for one more season wouldn’t really give Glenn and Mougey a full “clean slate” until 2026.

In what was not in very much of a very close game, the Philadelphia Eagles just beat the Kansas City Chiefs to win the NFL title at Super Bowl 59.
In a 40-22 final, the Eagles were very convincing. Philadelphia could be a force to be reckoned with moving forward.

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner has been doing himself plenty of favors with fans in New York recently.
Gardner, 24, said after the 2024 NFL season ended for his team that he wants to be “part of the solution.”
Since then, Gardner has mentioned he made sure to go and head a face-to-face meeting with his new head coach in Aaron Glenn.
Gardner is at it again on social media.
