Reports have stated that De’Aaron Fox would prefer to leave the Sacramento Kings for the San Antonio Spurs, but he won’t necessarily get his wish.
According to Brett Siegel, both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors are “among the teams showing some level of interest in De’Aaron Fox.”
“Sources said other teams to inquire about Fox’s availability in Sacramento include the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors. A path to possibly landing Fox would be extremely difficult for the Timberwolves and is unlikely since they’d have to move Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels to get out of the second apron. McDaniels does have a lot of fans in the Kings’ front office, sources said,” Siegel said, per NBACentral. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors are among the teams showing some level of interest in De’Aaron Fox, per @BrettSiegelNBA

Although the Timberwolves are interested in Fox, Siegel made it clear that they’d have a tough time getting him.
They would have to move the contracts of both Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels so they’d sit under the second apron and, according to Siegel, McDaniels is well-loved by the Kings’ front office.
Perhaps they could get another team involved in the trade if they are so hesitant about McDaniels?
The Raptors are another team that could create a deal for the Kings, but Sacramento will likely want a lot in exchange for their star player.
Whoever finally makes a trade happen will have to put a lot on the table or else the Kings will likely reject them.
It sounds like the Spurs are still the frontrunners to acquire Fox, but that could change quickly depending on how aggressive other front offices are.
The pursuit of Fox will only heat up over the next few days.

It sounds like trade talks around De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings are heating up and the impressive guard could be on his way to a new team by next week.
And he might not be the only Kings star to leave Sacramento.
According to Evan Sidery, Kevin Huerter might also be included alongside Fox in a trade before the upcoming deadline.
“The Kings have been shopping Huerter for over a year, and this might become the right opportunity to offload his contract,” Sidery wrote.
Huerter earned $16.8 million this year and is set for $18 million next season.

Huerter came to the Kings in 2022-23 and has averaged 11.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists since then.
His output and time on the court have diminished over these three years and there have been consistent stories about the Kings looking to offload him when the time is right.
A trade with Fox could be the perfect opportunity for Sacramento to also cut ties with Huerter.
It’s still not clear where he would go.
Would he move alongside Fox to his new team, possibly the San Antonio Spurs, or would he be shipped somewhere else as part of a multi-team deal?
Huerter has been praised for his shooting skills and could be a great bench star for a team or could be a starter for an up-and-coming squad.
Because of that, he could be a very valuable trade chip for the Kings.
This news shows that a Fox trade might have a domino effect that drastically changes the Kings for the future.
They might not just be saying goodbye to Fox but to other members of the roster as well.
The Kings could be looking very different at the end of next week.

The entire NBA world was buzzing when it was announced that the Sacramento Kings were open to trade talks around their star player, De’Aaron Fox.
Most people assumed this happened because Fox had requested a move from the Kings.
But it turns out that wasn’t the case.
According to Jake Fischer, the Kings were the ones who first came to Fox and his management about putting him on the trade market.
“It’s the Kings, according to the league sources, who first approached De’Aaron Fox’s Klutch Sports representation about putting the All-Star guard on the trade market with immediate effect. Sacramento sent word to some interested teams as early as last week that it was open to such overtures. That’s the flipped switch in Sactown,” Fischer wrote, via NBACentral. The Sacramento Kings were actually the first to approach De’Aaron Fox’s representatives about potentially putting him on the trade market, per @JakeLFischer

This revelation from Fischer gives Kings fans more insight into the state of the team.
The Kings and Fox have had an uneasy relationship lately, especially because they haven’t been able to hash out a contract extension and keep him in Sacramento long-term.
Perhaps they feel they’d rather trade him now than deal with contract negotiations that might not ever go anywhere later.
According to other reports, Fox is keen on playing for the San Antonio Spurs and would be happy to sign an extension with that team.
So, even though he wasn’t the one who brought up a trade, he is clearly okay with it and ready for the next steps.
Some people feel the Kings are making the wrong decision here, and this could severely hurt the team after a few promising seasons.
But it seems like the front office understood the situation with Fox, could foresee the future, and wanted to be preemptive about starting a new chapter.

According to recent reports, De’Aaron Fox may be leaving the Sacramento Kings soon.
That would be a major loss for the Kings and it could greatly shake up the team’s chemistry and culture.
How would it affect DeMar DeRozan and could it lead to him leaving Sacramento?
Speaking on “Run It Back,” per Legion Hoops, DeRozan admitted that it’s a complicated situation because he doesn’t want to be playing basketball for five more years.
“I’m trying to maximize the opportunity we have now to play with a great team,” DeRozan said, opening the door for him possibly leaving if a post-Fox future isn’t bright in Sacramento.

Kings fans would have loved to hear DeRozan say that he will stick with the Kings no matter what.
Instead, he admitted that it would be hard to say goodbye to Fox, especially since he was one of the biggest contributing factors that led to him signing with the team in the summer.
DeRozan knows that his career is getting closer to retirement, and he wants to make the most of the time he has left.
If the Kings aren’t in great shape after Fox leaves, DeRozan will need to consider his options so that he ends his time in the NBA on a high note.
DeRozan’s statement makes it even more important that the Kings’ front office handle things correctly.
If they lose Fox and don’t get a great haul in exchange for him, they could soon be saying to other players like DeRozan.
They need to do well at the trade deadline or all the progress they made could be lost.

The Orlando Magic’s roster ripples continue to make waves across the NBA, with former players landing in new destinations as teams gear up for the playoff push.
While Orlando remained quiet during the trade deadline, their former stars are making moves elsewhere in the league.
Mo Bamba, who the Magic selected sixth overall in 2018, has switched from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Utah Jazz, while another notable ex-Magic player is set for a fresh start.
Markelle Fultz, the former No. 1 overall pick, has found his next NBA home after completing his three-year, $50 million contract with Orlando in 2024.
During his five-season tenure with the Magic, Fultz established himself as a regular starter, opening 149 games for the team.
The Sacramento Kings have emerged as Fultz’s new destination, with NBA insider Shams Charania breaking the news on Wednesday:
“Free agent guard Markelle Fultz has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agent Raymond Brothers of I AM Sports & Entertainment told ESPN. Kings have searched to find a point guard – and land a deal with the former No. 1 overall pick.”Free agent guard Markelle Fultz has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, his agent Raymond Brothers of I AM Sports & Entertainment told ESPN. Multiple teams showed interest in Fultz as he worked his way back from injury this offseason.
After considering his options, he chose the Kings as his next destination. His agent has confirmed that Fultz has fully recovered and is ready to return to the court.
The timing could work well for both parties. The Kings currently hold a 28-26 record, placing them ninth in the Western Conference.
With just 2.5 games separating them from the sixth-seeded Clippers, Sacramento has a real opportunity to climb the standings and secure a more favorable playoff position.

The Sacramento Kings have been at the center of a lot of speculation and rumors for the last week, especially now that De’Aaron Fox is reportedly up for grabs.
What will the Kings attempt to do before next week’s NBA trade deadline?
According to Brett Siegel, per NBACentral, the Kings and Utah Jazz are engaged in “serious trade talks” around John Collins.
Collins has become an important part of Utah’s lineup, so what will the team demand in order to move him?

Collins is averaging 18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game this season, shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 44.6 percent from the three-point line.
The 27-year-old forward is now in his second year with the Jazz and spent six seasons with the Atlanta Hawks before that.
His name has been tossed around as a potential trade target for several teams, and it sounds like the Kings are definitely pursuing him.
Although Sacramento might want Collins, it may be difficult for them to land him.
The Jazz will definitely be sellers before the deadline, but they won’t go easy during any negotiations.
They have made a habit of demanding a lot for all of their players.
Just a few years ago, they brought in a huge haul when they traded both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell away.
That means the Kings will need to get comfortable with giving up a lot if they really want Collins.
Would he be a good fit in Sacramento and provide them with the support they need as the playoffs approach?
Is Collins the only star the Kings are looking at?
The team’s front office is obviously busy, but we don’t know which direction they will take.
